(Calgary, Alberta) October 5, 2018 – Alberta Beer Week kicks off on Friday, October 19 and runs until Saturday, October 27, 2018.
Alberta Beer Week is a province-wide celebration of Alberta-made beer. Our new Alberta.Beer website will be the online hub for all 9 days. Head to our Alberta Beer Week events page - the one-stop-shop planning calendar for #ABBeerWeek.
There are more than 80 events taking place over 15 Alberta towns or cities. Events range from free tours and specials to brewmaster dinners, cask events, and beer festivals. Locations for these events vary from breweries to restaurants, pubs and craft beer venues. There will be a few beer launches happening over the week as well.
One particularly special launch happening during Alberta Beer Week is the launch of the Alberta Small Brewers Association’s Unity Brew.
On September 28, fifty (50) Alberta breweries gathered in Lacombe at Blindman Brewing to brew our annual Unity Brew. This year’s beer is called the Alberta Maltsters Red Ale. As the name suggests, this beer was made using malts exclusively from Alberta. We brought together five different maltsters from this province to take part in Unity Brew - Canada Malting (Calgary), Hogarth Malt (Olds), Origin Malting (Strathmore), Rahr Malting (Alix) and Red Shed Malting (Penhold).
For the first time, Unity Brew will be sold exclusively from participating breweries’ taprooms starting during Alberta Beer Week. To find out where you can purchase Alberta Maltsters Red Ale head to our website - “Where to find the Unity Brew 2018”.
