PAKTECH
RECYCLING PROGRAM
About the Program
The program was started in March 2021, created by Andrew Bullied from Annex Ale Project and Kirk Zembal from Blindman Brewing.
Together, they have collected tens of thousands of PakTechs for reuse.
There are more than 195 collection locations, all actively working to divert recyclable HDPE plastics away from landfills and into recycling facilities.
Who Can Participate?
-All Breweries.
- All liquor stores.
- Any business which uses, reuses or wishes to recycle PakTechs.
How it Works
A collection location places a bin in their common area for consumers to see and use.
Once the bin is full, the location can take the bin to a consolidation point such as Annex Ales, Blindman Brewing or Polyrhythm Brewing.
When the consolidation point is ready, they work with Connect Logistics to move the used PakTechs to the Merlin Plastics yard in Calgary, then to Delta, BC to recycle and remake into new PakTechs.
How to Participate
Send an email to Admin@AlbertaBrewers.ca to note that you would like to be a collection point.
We can arrange pickup or delivery of a PakTech collection bin if available.
Collect the PakTechs, and reuse what you can. Best practices for cleaning and reusing are available through ASBA.
Once necessary, take your unusable PakTechs to your nearest consolidation point for recycling.
