When the new markup schedule was announced on February 27, 2025, very little changed for the markup on spirits, refreshment beverages, cider, and other products. ASBA had hoped to see a change in these markup schedules which would allow manufacturers access to Connect Logistics.
Over the last three years, ASBA has been advocating for manufacturers to have access to Connect Logistics and consumers Alberta-wide, as well as for restaurants and retailers to give their consumers choice.
AGLC is currently hosting stakeholder engagement sessions on this strategy, and ASBA continues to advocate for access to Connect Logistics at a fair markup rate, allowing Albertans to support Alberta-made products.

As part of the 2025/26 Alberta budget, Minister Nally, Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction announced changes to the small brewers markup. This change immediately impacts Alberta’s oldest small brewery and long term impacts Alberta’s breweries’ ability to grow.
The Alberta Small Brewers Association does not support this change and is advocating to correct this significant mistake by the Government.
